YouTube won't play any videos on Android? Video won't record on Android? This might be a fix for you.
After a little while of custom ROM flashing on my SGS i9000, I found the phone had two major problems that I disliked.

The Problems

First, YouTube stopped playing videos. I don't know what I did or what the phone did to make this happen, but the problem is heavily documented and appears on a wide number of differing Android devices. I am pretty sure Google still have not released an official fix for the problem going off what I've read. (Google Products Thread there are many others like this)

Second, the camera decided it would not let me record any videos. Not just HD (720p) videos, but any videos. It would go into video mode and let me start recording but when I hit stop recording it would crash the camera app.

The... failed... Solutions

So first let me paste up all the fixes I did try to fix, mainly, the YouTube problem.

1. Change settings in YouTube app. Play non high quality videos only
2. Reboot phone
3. Clear phone cache and dalvik cache in cwm
4. Uninstalling official Twitter app
5. Updating YouTube - wouldn't update, had to uninstall it using ROM Toolbox Manager Lite.
6. Install version 4.0.8E YouTube from Play Store does nothing to fix the problem. App works fine, videos won't play.
7. Playing video via 3g network doesn't work.
8. Clearing YouTube app data via: System Settings -> Apps -> YouTube -> Clear Data button doesn't help.
9. Update Abode Flash player to v11.1.115.11 in Play Store
10. Switching from HQ to SD in the UI doesn't help. Pressing the play/pause icon doesn't help. Dragging the play progress slider doesn't work. Tapping further in the video progress doesn't work.
11. Installed 720P Playback/Recording package from XDA forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1575485 <- THIS FIXED YOUTUBE!!!

The Solution (for me at least)

If you have not rooted and installed ClockWork mod on your phone, you won't be able to use this fix. But if you have, this worked for me. Simply download the ZIP update file to the phone SD card, reboot to recovery mode and apply the update ZIP.

This fixed YouTube playing videos AND recording videos in the camera app for me.

From my Evernote HOWTOs Folder:

I was running Team-Nyx's ICSSGS RC5 ROM for Samsung Galaxy S i9000 international version w/ Devil kernel (comes with ROM).
Download the ZIP file from the XDA forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachm ... 1333252725
Place it in SD card root.
Reboot to recovery mode and install the ZIP. On success, reboot.

It fixed the following:
All YouTube playback
All video camera recording (previously, no video recording would work even below 720P mode)
DVDRip video files play perfectly over network now
It did not fix:
Hi-def (720p) video files still chop up and freeze when played

Hope this can help someone else from tearing their hair out. (Mine is getting thinner these days!)

Until next time.
