So now the internet masses can benefit from our misfortunes! Here you will find a guide on how to (almost completely) tear down a Toshiba Satellite L650! I looked for an LCD removal guide before doing it myself and there is one dodgy guide that doesn't seem to have photos of my exact model so I tore mine apart and cameraed it along the way.
This guide should cover removing the following parts:
CDROM
Touchpad/Top Front Bezel
Keyboard
Screen (the whole screen as a unit)
Screen Front Bezel
LCD panel
Removing the HDD and mainboard are even simpler than the LCD but I have not provided steps for those here as I had no need to do it. (Sorry)
NOTE: This page has large images (about 20Mb worth) so don't view it if you're on a slow connection! Sorry the images are big but I made them big so people can see what to do. Also, I am lazy and didn't downsize or compress them properly. That happens when you get stuff on the internet for free.
As usual: no responsibility.
Hi there. I noticed today that to get to the LCD panel you actually don't need to rip the whole laptop apart. You can easily start at Step 6 below and just remove the screen bezel and then the LCD panel from there. Just ensure you are careful when flippingthe LCD panel out as the cable will be connected and you don't want to damage the cable.
Step 0 - Remove battery. Just friggen do it.
Step 1 - Remove the keyboard bezel.
Open the lid of the laptop and you will see a shiny black plastic piece above the keyboard. This is the keyboard bezel. It unclips to be removed. The plastic tabs are located above the following keys:
F1, F5, F8, F11, DEL, PGUP

Use a flat head screw driver to push in and prise up the bezel. Once removed, you will reveal the keyboard screws.
Step 2 - Remove the keyboard.
Unscrew the 4 keyboard screws with a plus head screw driver. Lift the top part of the keyboard upwards away from the laptop, then slide it towards the screen. All the cables are still attached so be careful.

Disengage the lock for the touchpad. Use a flat head, precision screw driver to slide the lock downwards and remove the flex cable. Repeat the process for the keyboard flex cable a little further up.

You can now remove the keyboard.
Step 3 - Remove rear screws. You will need a very small plus head screwdriver for this. Also called "precision" screw driver. Note that some or most screws will have some Loc-Tite on them (blue glue on the screw thread that makes them stick tight). Use caution as you can strip out the head of the screws if you don't use the correct size tool.
You need to flip the laptop over and remove the following screws:
F3 - 1 of - this holds the DVD drive in place. Remove and slide out the DVD drive.
F5 - 1 of - this screw holds down the back panel above the RAM and Wifi adaptor. It is the panel closest to the battery.
F2 - 4 of - two are located below where the battery was and two are located below where the CDROM was
F6 - 15 of - these are scattered across the base of the unit, they hold the touchpad panel to the laptop's outer case.

Step 4 - Remove the touch pad and front bezel.
Where the battery usually is, you should notice 3 plastic latches near where the F2 screws are located. These tabs hold the touch pad to the base. There are more latches all around the edge of the laptop. Using your fingernail or a flat head precision screwdriver, carefully prise each clip open. CAUTION: If you find something feels locked shut do not use excessive force on it - you probably have missed a screw. Go back and ensure you removed all required screws.
You should be able to work your way around the laptop unclicking each plastic tab without breaking them. Ensure you remove all four F2 screws. Do not forget the two near the CDROM as you will crack the plastic where the CDROM usually is if you try to tear it open. Be extra gentle around that area if you care about your laptop case.
Before you can completely remove the touchpad, you must unplug the power button cable from its socket, and the speaker cable from its socket. Do this using a flat precision screw driver or a finger nail. They just pop out.

Step 5 - Remove the screen.
Once the touchpad is off we can remove the screen from the laptop body. Unplug the video cable using a flat head precision screwdriver or fingernail.

Unplug the Wifi antenna cables (thin white and black wires). They just pop off.

Now unscrew the hinges from the main body. There are two screws on each hinge. You do not need to remove the hinge from the screen - only the hinge from the body of the laptop.

Unfeed/untape any wires that are attached between the screen and body and carefully seperate the screen from the rest of the laptop body.
Step 6 - Remove the screen bezel
To remove the screen bezel, first remove the small circle screw covers from the four corners of the screen. Use a flat head precision screw driver to do this. Unscrew the screws you find below them.

The bezel can now be unclipped. I found it easiest to use a flat head precision screw driver to unclip a first clip, then, using your finger tips and the screw driver, work your way around the perimeter of the screen wit hthe screwdriver sliding along, pressing to unclip the clips as you locate them. Take care around the hinge cover areas. I ended up getting the top and two sides unclipped, then t oun clip the bottom I lifted the inside edge of the bezel rather than the outside. the bezel lifts off in one piece.
Step 7 - Remove the LCD
There are 6 screws holding the LCD in place, 3 on each side. Simply unscrew them and the LCD lifts out.

Note that the LCD will still have the video cable plugged into it so use caution when removing.
Unplug the video cable from the rear of the LCD panel. I used a flat head precision screw driver to do this. Carefully work the plug from its socket on both sides and it will slide out. It is usually held in place with some tape and then some glue on the cable.

There you have it.
You can put it all back together by reversing this process.
